SURUDEV HOSTS 21 INTERNS AND 80 VOLUNTEERS IN 2023

Sustainable Run for Development between the Months of July and December 2023 played host to over some 32 interns from tertiary education establishments around Cameroon. The first set of Students came in from the Department of Communication and Development from the University of Bamenda. These 12 students were drilled on communication skills, corporate interaction, reporting of field activities and monitoring of executed projects. The students were also drilled on field activity around Bamenda III municipality on how they can report environmental problems linked to flooding from a development perspective. Their two months internship was satisfactory and ended up with the presentation of reports and evaluation. The second set of students were level 200 students of the department of forestry and Wildlife in the College of Technology of the university of Bamenda who were with SURUDEV on field practicum, around Bamenda for a period of two months. They completed their practicum with major activities being seed bed and nursery preparation, nursery management, tree planting, seed collection, pre-treatment and tree planting and field visitations. The last se of students were five students from level 400 of the same institution who were ferried to SURUDEV’s Nkambe field site where they participated in activities notably: Nursery site preparation, nursery creation, seed collection, seed pre-treatment, Nursery management, grafting, marcotting, tree planting and follow up. The two months internship ended with report submission for evaluation and stock taking.
